Diploma in Health and Social Care

Previously known as the NVQ in health and social care, the diploma in health and social care level 2, 3, 4 & 5 offered by BCE is just one of our many social care training programmes. We offer a wide range of solutions for care professionals including Personal Assistants (PA’s). Our courses are geared towards those who work in care homes, Domicillary care and Indivdual Employers. Our bespoke programmes can be tailored to meet both Individuals and organisation’s needs. These qualifications are eligible for funding under the Skills for Care Workforce Development Fund (WDF) depending on your circumstances.

Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care : The New NVQ in Health and Social Care

If you work in the care sector, we recommended the new equivalent of the NVQ in social care for your staff members. The course provides all the necessary knowledge to pursue a career in the health and social care sector. 

This qualification is made up of units that can be chosen to suit your job role. Level 2 diploma health and social care includes the following 9 mandatory units

  • Implement person centres approaches in health and social care
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Introduction to communication in health, social care or childrens and young peoples settings
  • Introduction to duty if care in health, social care or childrens and young peoples settings
  • Handle information in health and social care settings
  • The role of the health and social care worker
  • Introduction to personal development in health, social care or childrens and young peoples settings
  • Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or childrens and young peoples settings
  • Contribute towards health and safety in health and social care

There are no entry requirements for the new style NVQ level 2 health and social care and are suitable for the following job roles

  • Care Assistant or Worker
  • Home Care Support Worker
  • Key Workers in Day Services
  • Key Workers in Domiciliary Services
  • Key Workers in Residential Settings
  • Personal Assistants

This is once again the equivalent of the old NVQ qualification, the NVQ level 3 Health and Social Care.

Level 3 Health and Social Care Diploma : The New NVQ in Health and Social Care

The level 3 diploma health and social care offered by BCE provides a more comprehensive understanding of the social care sector. It gives underpinning knowledge and skills that allow progression within the sector. The diploma in health and social care level 3 is equivalent to A Levels grades A to E .

This qualification is made up of units that can be chosen to suit your job role. Level 3 diploma health and social care includes the following 9 mandatory units

  • Engage In personal development in health, social care or childrens and young peoples settings
  • Principles of safeguarding in health and social care
  • Promote and implement health ad safety in health and social care
  • Promote communication in health, social care or childrens and young peoples settings
  • The role of the health and social care worker
  • Promote good practice in handling information in health and social care settings
  • Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or childrens and young peoples settings
  • Promote person centred approaches in health and social care
